Day 4: SEALS 2012 Arise and ShineToday

Family Mosaic, Creative Arts Worship,
a mosaic of our communion time together.
Today concludes SEALS 2012. The morning began with cultural breakout groups to reflect and debrief the weekends experiences, lessons, and blessings.  Afterwards we moved into powerful morning of worship.  The mosaic cross of the broken pottery from the night before stood up as a symbol of our communion together as a family, and one tribe, under the Kingdom of Christ.

Worship Team!
James Choung came back speaking on how to fuel our drams.  He gave many helpful points that would equip us on how to re-approach our dreams and ministries with a new perspective.
-We are to be God watchers, similar to birdwatchers who from a far can recognize the voice of a speck in the sky, as well as admire the  bird in its beauty up close.  If we are like birdwatchers, we can recognize what God is doing in front of our eyes.
-Do know, do we live, do we have an expectation that God is breaking in to our daily midst, that he wants to speak something into our daily lives?
-The illustration in Jesus' ministry of when a shepherd opens the gate for His sheep and call to them, the sheep hear his voice and follow him.  The shepherd also in the same way knows his sheep, he knows them by name.  Jesus knows us by name.

"The most important thing that a Christian can do for themselves is to listen for the Lord on a daily basis.", says James.  He goes on explaining how when we are engaging and listening for God throughout our daily schedule we are constantly connected with Him.  "This is the fuel for our relationship with Him."  In this same way we can see how our dreams can be approached not by fear but with confidence.

The 5 ways we can be LISTENING for the Lord:
-Scripture-What is he saying?  (Acts 17:11)
-Prayer-What are you seeing and hearing when you pray
-Community-What does your community (friends, accountability partners, families, and mentors) say about what you are hearing from God?
-Faith-opposite of faith is not doubt, it is fear.  When we fear it causes us to fear approaching our relationships.
-Fruits-are you becoming more like Christ? (Luke 6:44, Galatians 5

James infers that if we are following these 5 ways; it becomes a cycle that continues daily and healthily.  Lastly James cautions us that ultimately however we act out in our behavior, we are not in control of the results.  God is in control of the results.  The second caution was  that what we hear CAN change.  The example given was Genisis 22: 2, Abraham heard from God to sacrifice Issac, but in verse 22 God speaks again and stops Abraham from that sacrifice.  If Abraham did not stop to confer with God again, after setting up the alter and binding Issac, the results would have been most tragic.

We spend time in reflective prayer listening and speaking to God about our needs, dreams, spiritual formation, and of our communities we wold be returning to.  We thanked Him for the good God that he is.

Shout outs with great appreciation:  Keynote Speaker: James Choung,
MC: Amy Chanthaphavong, Guest: Jason Chu, and Director of SEAC: Ken Kong
Today this is our prayer,

I wait for the Lord more than the watchmen wait for the morning,
more than the watchmen wait for the morning.
Psalms 130:6

The possibilities of our dreams are immeasurable with God who is able.

Words

SEALS 2012 was.... generated by Wordle.net For all who attended SEALS 2012, and to the ones that were not able to attend.  These are the words that influence us today as we have departed one another.  With these words we become a living testimony by Truth Is, and by Spoken Word. For those who have returned home to an avalanche of reality, be courageous.  Our fear is not about our doubt, its about our futility, the feeling of being useless or ineffective.  It's healthy to be doubtful, sad, mournful, heavy-hearted, in pain, broken, stressed; these are feelings that the Father created, emotions that He also feels. He also created compassion, joy, empathy, redemption, surrender so that we would rely on Him as a source. This words collaged above represent how attendees felt leaving SEALS 2012.  Be empowered by these words.  May our words continually be edified and may we continue to be bold in our ministries "Be strong and courageous.  Do no...

The Leader Who Had No Title

It's called the LWT, its short for Leader Without a Title.  I think many of us can relate to this.  Often we think to ourselves in our cultural context of being Southeast Asian Americans who function under a cultural constraints, context, "ministry", and or occupation as stuck?  Hurt?   Plateaued, mediocre, with lack of focus, limited??  Some might even still be struggling with self worth and value in their capabilities.  We are approaching SEALS 2014, in a 2 weeks and it is a leadership summit right.  Here is some food for thought: How does this take us to depend on God's love?  How do we REMAIN in him with this though of disintegrating our negative thoughts and behaviors, our past..... The more thought put into choosing to disintegrating negative thoughts, behaviors, and past experiences leads us to consider what it means to deny yourself to take up the cross DAILY, what does being created in His likeness really mean, and how can we funct...

Be Prayer, Is Prayer.

This prayer journal entry is inspired by teachers, by ministry leaders, and missionaries. -I've heard a few stories that I was just not okay with recently.  It was enough for me to re-evaluate how IS prayer playing a role in my life to be intentional for the people that I see, hear, spend quality time with, serve with, and respond to.  -One was from a teacher in my small group, "  I don't like to think about the current events happening around the nation about guns occurring at schools because I never thought that I was working in an career where I would be putting my life on the line."  It was her way of saying I can go to work because I don't think too much into the fact that I am putting my life on the line.  She was saying if I think about it too much, I wouldn't be a teacher. Then recently I saw a post on my FB wall about a teacher friend of mine where a student brought a gun onto campus. -I saw am seeing more activism for women in ministry, I am ...
